James Gunn’s summer smash hit Superman was released onto HBO Max for streaming on Friday, September 19.
It opened in theaters July 11, starring David Corenswet as the beloved Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, grossing $125 million within its opening weekend.
During its 70-day theatrical window, it grossed $615.1 million dollars worldwide, with over half of it coming from domestic box offices at $353.9 million. Thus, making it the first DC movie to cross the $300 million mark at the domestic box office since The Batman in 2022.
Superman also broke several box office records during its time in theaters, namely surpassing Man of Steel to become the highest-grossing solo Superman film in U.S. history.

With the massive success of Superman, Gunn has already begun to speak on what’s next to come for the Man of Steel. He took to his Instagram to announce that Superman: Man of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
